It’s STEWIE!!
I would like you to meet the newest member of our family!! It’s Stewie!!
He is a teenie, tiny little Scottish Fold kitten. He joins our other two Scottish Fold cats, Dante (10) and Tigger (9). He is cute as a button, but a holy terror (truly living up to his namesake).
I made him a little cat bed/house from McCall’s 5149. I scaled it down, so the fat cat Tigger couldn’t get in, but I somehow he gets in anyway (with little room for movement to spare)??!! That’s OK because Stewie prefers Tigger’s bed – I guess all is well that ends well.

Leather at Mood (LA)!!
Oh my, oh my, oh my ….
I went to Mood again this weekend (it’s been a while), and after I was done admiring the new eyelets, I turned the corner to (gasp) find a whole rack of SOFT, SUPPLE, SEWABLE and BEAUTIFUL leather hides!! The prices were pretty good for such a great selection. All solid color hides were $4.50/sq-ft and the fancy ones could go up to $12/sq-ft. They were mostly all full hides, ranging between 7 and 10 square feet each. There were a few scraps, but not many.
One of my favorites was an amazing lazer cut hide (below), I wound up purchasing the items on the right … pewter finished lambskin and a pair of brown floral lazer embossed hides.
Additionally, there were furs and sherpa … along with all the other fabulous things Mood has!!
Like …. Belt buckles and buttons, Beautiful eyelets, Sweater Knits, English Suitings, Couture Laces … There are soooo many more pictures, here is the whole Mood Gallery – LINK

Koala Cabinets on Sale NOW!!
You may remember that I’ve been redoing my sewing room. I’ve been holding out on purchasing a cabinet for my Bernina because I want everything to look like a “studio”.
Well, lo and behold, I wandered into my local Sew Hut in San Diego (our Bernina dealer) with a broken buttonhole foot and I find that Koala Cabinets are all on sale now (through Koala). Additionally, Sew Hut is having their 25th anniversery with an additional 15% off!!
I’ve scanned the Koala flyer and put it here.
You will notice that Koala is adding free gifts, as well as a free chair with all sewing table purchases. There are additional discounts for a full studio purchase. I bought the OutBack Plus Studio in Bleached Oak!! Now I just can’t wait for it to get here!!

Organizing Buttons and More…
Every once in a while, in my travels, I find some really neat little do-dads that really make a difference when it comes to making my sewing space more manageable … and you may have noticed that I’m sorta ‘touched’ with a little OCD when it comes to tidiness in my sewing room. Someone actually once said that I have “a sewing room that looks like the Library of Congress.”
I would like to share with you a few new things I’ve found to help me contain my sickness.
Recently I found this neat little jewelry organizer at The Container Store. Maybe you noticed that I hang fabric with skirt hangers? These are my “slippery” fabrics that simply will not stay folded. It makes
them a lot easier to access and flip through. When I saw this jewelry organizer, I immediately thought that it would fit perfectly with my hanging fabrics and would be PERFECT for buttons and other small notions (d-rings, snaps, patches, etc).
Additionally, I also found these neat little bead organizers at General Bead (http://generalbead.com), which has a storefront in San Diego. These are perfect!! Don’t you hate it when those beads in your tackle boxes get all mixed up?? No more!!

Mood Fabrics Now Open in LA!!
My first reaction was disbelief, but it’s true. I saw it for myself… Mood has a new location in Los Angeles!

This store is absolutely loaded down with fabulous fabric!!There were tons of designer fabric, including Pucci Cavalli, Ungaro … you name it!! I observed approximately 20 different Pucci silk jerseys anduncountable Cavalli … at reasonable prices. I picked up a Cavalli cotton knit for $16/yard … while the silk knit could run up to $35 yard. The Pucci’s were around $50/yard. What was even MORE impressive, is that virtually every Pucci yardage, thatI’m aware of in the last year, was IN STOCK. I saw some prints were both avaiable in denim, knits, and silks – as well as different color stories.
I couldn’t even begin to describe the velvets … just overwhelming beautiful.
Mood in LA is near La Cienega and W. Pico. They carry almost exclusively fabulous designer fabric (don’t expect any bargians or very many notions – you’ll need to go elsewhere for that).
You can check out this album to view some of my purchases.
